Founded in 2005, Rouge28 Theatre is a company of international theatre artists based in London. We fuse puppetry with different performance genres to produce original and intriguing visual theatre. Our work has been performed nationally and internationally.
Kwaidan is the latest project produced by the company. After developing a forty minute work-in-progress in 2014, we have completed a full production that is on tour since October 2015 onwards until February 2016. Kwaidan has been part of Suspense Festival in London and will be part of Manipulate Festival in Norwich.
Please visit the section "Kwaidan review" and Rouge28 on Tour for more details. You will also find a trailer of the show on the page dedicated to Kwaidan.
Our previous production, Urashima Taro, has been performed in more than thirty venues across UK, Poland, Greece and France such as the World Festival of Puppet Theatres in Charleville-Mezieres (France), Skipton International Puppet Festival, Suspense Festival (London), Marionnett'IC (France), The Little Angel Theatre (London), Norwich Puppet Theatre, and the Royal Exchange (Manchester) to name but a few.
In November 2013, Urashima Taro won the award for ‘Wonderful moment of animation’ at the International Festival of Puppet Theatre and Movie Animation in Warsaw (Poland).
In the past, Rouge28 has produced The Story of the Panda Bears (2005) by Matei Visniec which has been revived in 2014, Heartsnatcher (2005) , Madame (2006), and Postalgia (2007-08), as well as being engaged in research projects in puppetry around Seaside by Marie Redonnet and The Maids by Jean Genet.
In 2013, we have developed 'Mademoiselle Lychee', a burlesque humanette peepshow for one audience only that we performed at World Festival of Puppet Theatres in Charleville-Mezieres (France) in September 2013.
