This autumn, Rouge28 Theatre will present Kwaidan at the 20th World Festival of Puppet Theatres in Charleville-Mézières (France) on 25 and 26 September 2019.

Founded in 2005, Rouge28 Theatre is an award-winning company of international theatre artists based in London.

We fuse puppetry with different performance genres to produce original and intriguing visual theatre. Our work investigates perception and imagination through non-verbal dialogues between realistic live-sized puppets and humans.

Our productions have been performed in Britain, Denmark, Singapore, France, Poland and Greece.

Kwaidan is the latest project produced by the company. It is inspired by Japanese ghost stories and horror movies. It has been described by Total Theatre as ‘a classic in the puppetry mystery horror genre’.

Kwaidan won the price for best puppetry at International Puppet Theaters And Movie Animations for Adults in Warsaw (Poland).

Kwaidan has received funding from Arts Council England, Japan Foundation, Great-Britain Sasakawa Foundation and Japan Society.
